No petroleum polymer in the material
Plastic-free cosmetic jars. Tested for structural integrity.
Agropak jars contain no petroleum polymer. The structural material is compressed coconut shell and bamboo fiber. 15,492 N compressive strength, 0.8 m concrete drop test passed, both at CIPET. 93% bio-based content verified by TÜV SÜD.
The Material
What plastic-free means in this context.
Agropak's bio-composite contains no HDPE, PP, ABS, PLA, or other petroleum or bio-derived plastic polymer. The structural load is carried by compressed natural fiber, not by a plastic matrix. This is a meaningful distinction from bio-plastics, which replace fossil feedstock with plant feedstock but retain the same polymer chemistry.
The 93% bio-based content figure comes from radiocarbon (carbon-14) analysis under ASTM D6866. The method distinguishes atmospheric carbon (which plants absorb during growth) from fossil carbon (which has been underground for millions of years and has negligible carbon-14 remaining). An independent TÜV SÜD laboratory performed the analysis.
The remaining 7% non-bio-based content consists of processing agents used in the compression-molding process. It is not structural polymer.
Material Expressions
Three colourways. No dyes added.
The colour comes from the source material itself. Coconut shell gives deeper, darker tones. Bamboo fiber gives the warmer, sandier variants.
